HIGHLIGHTS FROM
THE BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING
April 8, 2013
A
moment of silence was held for Mr. Bob Shafer who passed away Wednesday, April
3, 2013 at the age of 89. Mr. Shafer worked for Ida Public Schools for 33 years
ending his career with a 17 year stint in administration where he served as the
High School Principal and then Assistant Superintendent.
The
Board of Education approved the appointments of the Middle School Track
coaches: Janis Nunez, Paul Galloro and
Jamie Sawasky. The following individuals were also approved to serve as
volunteer coaches: Matt Brannan, Jeremy
Potter, Travis Wilson, Jared Janssen, Cheryl Hoffman, Kim Dye, Ashley Stotz,
Elizabeth Hoffman, Tabatha Lajiness, Jaclyn Sawasky and Kelly Huss.
David
Raymond resigned from the Varsity Boys Basketball Coaching position.
A
new administrative collective bargaining agreement was ratified. There were two
changes made in the agreement: an
evergreen clause was added and the ending date was changed to June 30, 2016.
The same changes were made to the superintendent’s contract as well.
Ida
currently has 235 Schools of Choice students enrolled in grades K-12. They
represent 16% of our total student population.
Mrs.
Angelocci and Mr. Green do a marvelous job in the classroom. They will both
earn their tenure effective June 30, 2013.
The
Board approved a resolution supporting the construction of a new track
facility. They set aside $47,194 from the 2013 Capital Projects budget and
another $50,000 from the 2014 Capital Projects budget. The Sports Boosters and
Friends of the Ida Track have begun a fundraising campaign to raise additional
funds for a new track.
The
following projects were approved and will be scheduled this summer: high school
roof, elementary hallway ceilings and lights, high school locker-room
renovation, high school stage floor replacement, high school exterior gym door
replacement, band room carpet replacement and middle school computer lab
renovations.
Once
approved, the meeting minutes are posted on the district web-site at
