The Middle School talent show was a huge success!

5th grade DARE graduation was a huge success!

 Several students were selected to read their DARE essay.
 Mrs. McQuade's class received  diplomas and hand shakes by the high school DARE role models.
Deputy O'Lone showed a slide show of the students in action during DARE classes.

Ida Elementary Celebrates being a Top 5% Rewards School

Congratulations to Ida Elementary for being a Michigan rewards school!
 4th grade students were explaining the use of pictures to understand text.

5th - 8th grade Middle School students do well in the Monroe County Quiz Bowl Competition

 6th graders Emily Breitner, Katie Nowak, Zack Johnston, and Tim Allen are ready for the next question.

The 8th grade team of Miranda Siffer, Brendan Proudfoot, Tyler Stump, and Devon Low compete in the county finals that were televized.  They were the county runners up!  Congratulations to all competitiors!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING
April 8, 2013

A moment of silence was held for Mr. Bob Shafer who passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the age of 89. Mr. Shafer worked for Ida Public Schools for 33 years ending his career with a 17 year stint in administration where he served as the High School Principal and then Assistant Superintendent.

The Board of Education approved the appointments of the Middle School Track coaches:  Janis Nunez, Paul Galloro and Jamie Sawasky. The following individuals were also approved to serve as volunteer coaches:  Matt Brannan, Jeremy Potter, Travis Wilson, Jared Janssen, Cheryl Hoffman, Kim Dye, Ashley Stotz, Elizabeth Hoffman, Tabatha Lajiness, Jaclyn Sawasky and Kelly Huss.

David Raymond resigned from the Varsity Boys Basketball Coaching position.

A new administrative collective bargaining agreement was ratified. There were two changes made in the agreement:  an evergreen clause was added and the ending date was changed to June 30, 2016. The same changes were made to the superintendent’s contract as well.

Ida currently has 235 Schools of Choice students enrolled in grades K-12. They represent 16% of our total student population.

Mrs. Angelocci and Mr. Green do a marvelous job in the classroom. They will both earn their tenure effective June 30, 2013.

The Board approved a resolution supporting the construction of a new track facility. They set aside $47,194 from the 2013 Capital Projects budget and another $50,000 from the 2014 Capital Projects budget. The Sports Boosters and Friends of the Ida Track have begun a fundraising campaign to raise additional funds for a new track.

The following projects were approved and will be scheduled this summer: high school roof, elementary hallway ceilings and lights, high school locker-room renovation, high school stage floor replacement, high school exterior gym door replacement, band room carpet replacement and middle school computer lab renovations.

Red Wings Assembly




On Thursday, March 28th, students enjoyed the Red Wings Assembly.  They learned the importance of eating healthy, exercise and a good education. A big thank you to the Red Wing organization for their donation of hockey equipment to our Physical Education program.
