SCHOOL BOARD MEETING SUMMARY

The Ida Public Schools' Board of Education convened for a regular meeting on Monday, October 15, 2012. They confirmed the appointment of Shannon Coon as the new Great Start Readiness Pre-school teacher. The Great Start Readiness Pre-school program is expected to begin serving our community in late November. Currently, the district is advertising the new program and recruiting 4 year old students that may qualify for the program.
Additionally, the board accepted the resignation of David Voss, Senior Technology Technician. This position vacancy will be posted immediately.
The board also approved selling the remaining automobile hoist, tire machine, tire balancer and the brake lathe which were all left over from the automobile mechanic program which was discontinued after the retirement of Mr. Ron O'Dell.
There was also a discussion regarding potential Yearly Athletic Passes. The board supports offering a yearly pass for families, single adults and single students. An official resolution will be forwarded at the next meeting.
About twenty years ago the district installed new windows and window panels on the north wing of the middle school. Unfortunately, the insulating panels are deteriorating and need to be repaired. The board approved a bid from Monroe Glass for $22,100 to repair those panels.
The local girl scout troup led by Jodi Siffer has donated and planted two trees near the new elementary playground. They have plans to keep the trees watered through next school year to ensure the longevity of the trees. A special thank you to students Sierra Cox, Marchelle Roark, Juliet Jefts and Scarlet Adams.
