The Ida LINKS program celebrated its 3rd successful year with an ice cream social on May 1st.  Over 120 students enjoyed 9 gallons of ice cream with many delicious toppings! The Ida LINKS program is a peer to peer program designed to provide social, communication, and behavioral support for students with autism or other special needs. There are currently over eighty student volunteers providing academic or social support throughout the district. Students, teachers and parents have found the program to be rewarding for all involved.
Chris Todd commented, “I love the program on many different levels.  My son is a participant and this gives him a meaningful way to connect with his same age peers. It also gives him the opportunity to model what he has learned to be a link to another student. He talks highly about his high school links buddy all the time!”
Several classes from the second and fifth grade provided entertainment along with the music therapist. The LINKS program has been a very encouraging, caring contribution to the positive atmosphere of Ida Public Schools.
